On May 7, 2023, I had the privilege of serving as a facilitator for Earth Dash 1 San Juan: Fun Run for a Healthier Planet, a groundbreaking initiative that brought together youth, local leaders, and environmental advocates to take action for a more sustainable future. Organized by the Philippine Red Cross La Union Chapter Youth Council, in partnership with the Provincial Government of La Union and the Local Government Unit of San Juan, the event was a testament to the power of collective action.

From the start, the energy was infectious. Seeing 150 participants—Red Cross Youth volunteers, barangay representatives, and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officers—gather with a shared commitment to the environment was incredibly inspiring.

As a facilitator, my role was to help coordinate activities and ensure that everything ran smoothly, from the coastal clean-up drive to the beach run and the much-anticipated environmental awareness lecture by Mr. Ramon Tamayo of Coastal Underwater Resources Management Actions (CURMA).

One of the most memorable moments for me was the Seeds of Hope Commitment Rites, where participants pledged their dedication to environmental preservation. Watching young individuals vow to protect nature reaffirmed my belief that small, collective actions can lead to significant change.

Reflecting on Earth Dash 1, I am proud to have been part of a movement that not only promotes environmental awareness but also empowers young people to take action. Through the continued efforts of PRC La Union Youth Council and IFRC Limitless, we are proving that youth-led solutions can drive meaningful, lasting impact.
